What Does a Mechanical Design Engineer Do?
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be at the heart of designing cutting-edge machinery, including conveyors and associated components. Your role will involve:
- Using SolidWorks to create detailed 2D and 3D designs of components, sub-assemblies and full systems.
- Developing designs that meet BS:1672-2 standards for hygiene in the food industry.
- Conducting site surveys, gathering specifications, and translating client requirements into practical designs.
- Creating detailed technical drawings and ensuring seamless communication with manufacturing and installation teams.
- Designing layouts that focus on efficiency, safety, and compliance with health and safety standards
The successful Mechanical Design Engineer Will Bring:
- Expertise in SolidWorks, including sheet metal design and generating accurate Drawing Exchange Formats (DXFs).
- A strong foundation of manufacturing processes like CNC cutting and press brake operations.
- Experience in conducting surveys and transforming sketches into comprehensive designs.
- Knowledge of food industry hygiene standards (desirable but not essential).
- Familiarity with SigmaNEST or similar software for CNC programming is a bonus.
- Exceptional communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and teams.
