Job Title: Estates Maintenance Worker

Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 per annum, dependant on qualifications and experience

Location: Dorset & Hampshire

Hours: 40 per week, usual roster including 7am-3pm / 8am-4pm depending on business needs (flexibility required)

Essential requirements: You must hold a valid UK driving licence, commutable to locations including Southampton to Poole and surrounding areas

Beaufort Education and Care provides therapeutic residential care for children and young people aged 6 to 18 years old with our focus centred on the needs of the child.

Our Estates team take care to provide a comprehensive maintenance and refurbishing service, undertaking all aspects of property repair within our portfolio of childrens homes in the Dorset and Hampshire area.

Its exciting times as we are expanding our business and are recruiting for a new Estates Maintenance Worker to join the team.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Estates, the key responsibilities of the Estates Maintenance Worker is to:

  • Respond to maintenance requirements for each property
  • Carry out a full range of repairs, maintenance, refurbishments and planned improvements with the emphasis on multi skilled work
  • All aspects of painting and decorating
  • Plumbing works
  • Light carpentry
  • Grounds and building maintenance
  • Maintenance inspections of homes and offices
  • Responsible for Health and Safety
  • Ensure all homes and maintenance work meets relevant regulatory requirements as required by our regulators, Ofsted and HSE.

You will be working in childrens homes that observe the strictest safeguarding measures for the welfare of children and young people.

In addition, youll be working alongside our team of childcare workers, managers, Directors and external contractors.

About you

Our new Estates Maintenance Worker will be able to:

  • Self-motivate, working both individually and within a team setting
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with a professional approach
  • Excellent communicator with a high level of spoken and written English
  • Plan for and respond to maintenance needs
  • Able to manage simultaneous projects and prioritise job lists
  • Co-ordinate a safe and efficient work environment
  • Take care and pride in the finish of painting and decorating duties
  • Demonstrate a good working knowledge of buildings, mechanical, plumbing, heating, carpentry,electrical and other infrastructure systems
  • Undertake risk assessments where needed
  • Negotiate with suppliers and contractors
  • Safeguard children at all times
  • Use MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams
