W Talent is proud to be working with a leading manufacturing business located in Ripley, seeking to recruit a skilled Days-Based Mechanical Maintenance Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated team, maintaining and improving a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Role Overview


As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for performing repairs and preventative maintenance on industrial machinery, as well as contributing to building infrastructure maintenance, project work, and mechanical installations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend to machinery breakdowns and carry out timely repairs.
  • Execute preventative maintenance activities to ensure smooth operation.
  • Participate in mechanical and building installations.
  • Handle reactive and planned maintenance tasks efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and conduct breakdown analysis.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize performance.
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical and electrical team leaders to prioritize tasks and offer support.
  • Ensure all assigned projects are completed on schedule.
  • Uphold strong health and safety practices across all duties.
  • Liaise with health & safety, quality, and technical teams when needed.
  • Maintain a flexible and proactive approach to ensure the smooth operation of the manufacturing processes.

Candidate Profile

  • Time-served engineer or recognized apprenticeship.
  • Minimum qualification: City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years' experience in a similar mechanical maintenance role.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience.
  • Proactive attitude towards problem-solving and process improvements.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a self-organizing team.
  • Familiar with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety protocols.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • IT literate.
