Highly Skilled Lead Mechanical Design Engineer Required for Innovative Mechanical Handling & Process Solutions for Nuclear & Defence Engineering

Our client, a well-established Engineering & Manufacturing Giant in the Nuclear and Defence Engineering Sector, is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Warrington.

Qualifications:
We are looking for a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer who holds a Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering. Although professional certification such as Chartered Engineer is preferred, it is not a mandatory requirement.

Skills:
The ideal candidate should have experience with Front End Engineering design processes from concept development through feasibility studies, risk analysis, cost estimating and scheduling.

They should also have experience designing equipment such as pumps, motors, pressure vessels, and solid knowledge of CAD software like SolidWorks/Creo, etc.

In addition, the candidate should demonstrate the ability to work on either:

  • Process System Design (Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Skids, P&ID drawings and the ability to perform calculations related to pipe sizing/pump selection)
  • Mechanical Handling and Machinery Design (from concept) for high regulation applications (Complex Assemblies - Large Fabricated & Welded Structures and Machinery)

Familiarity working with regulated industries such as nuclear is also a requirement (or equvialvent for other industries such as Oil & Gas, PetroChemical etc) demonstrating an understanding of codes, standards, and regulations applicable.


Responsibilities:
As the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for leading development activities across multiple projects simultaneously. You will be managing project teams internally and collaborating cross-functionally both inside and outside the organization. These responsibilities are not limited and may be subject to change based on project requirements.
