The Opportunity
Our client is looking for an experienced Proposals Manager to Carry out proposal and estimating activities for single and multi-discipline proposals to support their business strategy. You will be responsible for helping maintain an up to date body of knowledge for proposals, support junior members of the proposal team.

Your duties and responsibilities will be

  • You will carry out proposal and estimating activities.
  • Take full responsibility for assigned proposals, to lead and manage to deliver high quality proposals in a timely manner that reflect agreed strategies and are compliant with relevant procedures
  • Expected to lead large single ‘own’ discipline proposals and medium complexity multi-discipline proposals.
  • Responsible for all aspects including estimate/costing, price, technical and commercial submission documents, contractual reviews, approvals.
  • Actively seek relevant input from others required to develop proposal, recognising strengths and weaknesses of self and others.
  • Work with ‘operations’ to develop and agree execution concepts
  • Obtain third party (subcontractor/vendor) input as appropriate.
  • Ensure all work is compliant with client procedures.
  • Initiate checks and reviews to ensure quality of work.
  • Actively liaise with clients for information, clarifications, site visits, negotiations and feedback.
  • Proactively support proposals managed by others
  • Provide estimation and execution inputs
  • Support proposal strategy development.
  • Carry out reviews and checks of proposal work by others
  • Work in a structured and organised way and support others in this
  • Act as Bid Manager reporting to UK Proposals Manager or Head of Proposals for specific assigned proposals
  • Maintain Body of Knowledge
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining a clear and reasoned set of norms relevant to discipline as part of the overall proposal department information
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant current technology, standards and execution approaches
  • Support development of proposal tools (e.g. estimating tools, procedures)
  • Support Others.
  • Provide coaching to others on estimating techniques.
  • Support junior team members in planning and managing proposals.
  • Review proposals and provide constructive feedback.

You will have the following qualifications & experience

  • Experience includes contracting in areas such as oil & gas, nuclear, utilities, power.
  • Expected to be degree qualified in appropriate engineering or numerical discipline, or suitably experienced through working in relevant discipline.
