Atomic Talent has a wonderful opportunity for a Graduate, or Junior level, mechanically focused engineer to join an already successful engineering organisation in its new offices, as it expands into the Northwest.

The position will support a Project manager in the delivery of existing nuclear decommissioning projects and the bid team in the pursuit of further growth.

The role

This role will be suited to a graduate or qualified apprentice in either HVAC, or mechanical engineering, looking to take a junior role with a path to either Project engineering, or Project management, for an HVAC manufacturing business facing into the UK Nuclear Industry.

The role requires working in a highly regulated environment, working to a variety of international, and client, standards and specifications.

Reporting to a Project manager, you will work closely with technical sales, design and
production, to help you with the initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of projects. In this Junior role you will be fully supported in your development with internal and external training (as required).

Ideally, but not essentially, you will have some experience, or exposure to the following areas and/or systems:

  • Heating and ventilation systems/equipment
  • Sheetmetal fabrication

Systems

  • Draft Sight
  • SolidWorks
  • MRP Systems (Javelin)
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Microsoft Project

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Planning and defining scope of Project, including meeting customer specifications
    and requirements.
  • Project timescale estimating.
  • Cost estimating and budget planning to meet the finical objectives of the customer
    project and Veotec.
  • Control and completion of project documentation including but not limited to; Quality Plans, Certificates of Conformity, Installation, Operation & Maintenance instructions.
  • Monitoring and Reporting progress to both senior management and customer.
  • Liaising with customers and sub-contract companies
  • Checking of 3D and 2D CAD designs / drawings prior to customer approval
  • Generation of MRP parts / Bills of Materials / Works Orders / Drawing Packages for Production

Key Skills Required

  • Minimum HNC qualified in a suitable engineering discipline or an apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Abilty to work independently and manage own time accordingly.
  • Available to travel if required in UK and abroad to meet the requirements of the business.
  • Good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate well with all departments and outside connections.
