A long standing and highly reputable construction company with over 50 years of successful trading are looking for an Assistant Estimator/Quantity Surveyor to join their team on a permanent basis. This family owned business are keen to recruit a candidate to train and progress within their established commercial team. This is a business that demonstrate a proven track record for training and promoting from within, with staff tenure also well above market average.

About the Role

Reporting into the Commercial Manager, you will support with the pricing of tenders as part of the Estimating function of the Commercial Team. You will work with a high volume of tenders, analysing drawings andspecifications in order to produce take offs and pricing for a variety of different residential developments.

  • Work closely with senior estimators to analyse project plans,specifications, and requirements.
  • Collect and review material, labour, and plantcost data.
  • Maintain and update cost libraries to reflect accurate and up-to-date pricing data.
  • Prepare and submit tender documents, ensuring accurate pricing for subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Assist in preparing Bills of Quantities (BoQs) and cost reports.
  • Monitor project costs against the budget, assisting with financial management and control.
  • Help with valuations of completed works and variations.
  • Prepare interim and final payments
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to resolve any cost or contractual issues.
  • Assist in the preparation of contract documents and the review of subcontractor agreements.

About You

You are an established Assistant level Estimator or Quantity Surveyor with some industry exposure and an interest in taking on preconstruction duties in addition to quantity surveying. You have ideally had some exposure to groundworks/civil engineering. Candidates working towards their degree will be considered along with those who have already graduated.
