Job description:

A unique opportunity has arisen for an Instructor in UPS that has an additional specialism of outdoor education and leadership. The College runs a successful UPS course with a vast array of alumni to be fully-equipped for their chosen public service careers. We seek an enthusiastic individual who works hard for the Department and is committed to the success of the their learners. You will instruct groups of students and assess their skills in Outdoor Adventurous Activities. To enable students to learn and achieve and to maintain equipment to high standards to meet all health and safety requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Instruct students in high-quality outdoor adventurous activities.
  • Supervise, assess, and train students per national standards.
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of outdoor activity spaces and storeroom.
  • Ensure all equipment is safe and fit for purpose.
  • Update lecturers and tutors on student progress and assessments.
  • Review and improve operating systems and risk assessments.
  • Maintain equipment stock levels with the SPS technician.
  • Be accountable for equipment health and safety.
  • Monitor and maintain or replace outdoor adventure equipment.
  • Manage stock for efficient outdoor activity operations.
  • Conduct health and safety risk assessments per industry guidelines.
  • Keep accurate records of equipment on digital and paper systems.
  • Follow outdoor adventure and public services SOPs.
  • Organize and deliver away days and residentials, adhering to policies.
  • Achieve income targets and manage sales.
  • Liaise with facilities for specialist equipment needs.
  • Continuously improve professional knowledge.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
