We have a fantastic opportunity for a Business Support Officer at Rochdale Council, this is a full-time Temporary role for the next 6 months, with the possibility of extension.

What is the role?

Rochdale Council are looking for a Business Support Officer, to be based within the ICT department. They are looking for a confident candidate who can deliver excellent customer service and administrative support. You would need to be enthusiastic, proactive, highly organised individual with a good work ethic to support the delivery and be an integral part of ICT at Rochdale Borough Council.

What are your responsibilities?

  • This role requires you to be confident, customer focused officer, who can deliver excellent customer service; financial, contract and procurement support; other administrative support and good communications.
  • To be responsible for following best practice service management frameworks (e.g. ITIL), analysing SLA performance and contributing to the maintenance of policies and procedures.  They will also be responsible for delivery of a range of secretarial and personal assistant services to senior management.
  • You will act as first point of reference on behalf of the assistant director and senior managers to elected members and other persons internal and external to the authority and assist them in resolution of their queries
  • Working with management and peers to engender and promote a culture of collaborative continual service improvement to deliver an excellent service to the Council and our key stakeholders.
  • You must ideally have experience of delivering excellent customer service; financial support, ideally using Civica Financials and other administrative support and have good communication skills.
  • Be motivated and forward thinking, demonstrating professionalism and enthusiasm.
  • Show a real attention for detail and analytical skills along with good computer literacy skills.
  • Have consistently high expectations of themselves and take pride in their work.
  • Be an effective multi-tasker with excellent organisational skills and the ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service

What skills do you Need?

  • Must have recent experience of working as an Administrator / Business Support Officer, ideally for a local authority or Housing Association.
  • Strong IT Skills, as you will be using Microsoft office, and internal council IT systems.
  • Excellent people skills, as you will be speaking to the public, other members of staff and managers.
  • Excellent Telephone manner
