Job Title: Senior Residential Childcare Worker
Location: RochdaleSalary:£12.70 - £13.80 per hour, plus £50 per sleep-in (averaging 6-10 per month)Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time (35-39 hours per week) Shift Pattern: Includes weekends, sleep-ins, and one weekend off per month.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- QCF Level 3/4 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People)
- Minimum one year of experience in residential childcare
- Valid UK Driving Licence

Job DescriptionIn this senior role, you will support the Registered Home Manager by ensuring the home provides a safe, caring environment and by guiding other staff members. Responsibilities include:
- Supervision and Leadership: Monitor staff performance, set tasks, and conduct debriefs and reflection sessions.
- Childcare Provision: Support young people in achieving a healthy, positive lifestyle through guidance and meaningful activities.
- Collaboration: Work with parents, carers, and professionals to support each child’s welfare.
- Advocacy: Review case files, update plans, and participate in review meetings to advocate for each young person.
Childcare Provision
- Implement and review care plans, support life skills, and encourage positive behaviour.
- Support young people in distress and maintain safety.
Staff Support
- Conduct inductions, monitor and deploy staff, and promote professionalism.
Health & Safety
- Implement Health & Safety policies, undertake risk assessments, and conduct fire drills.
Home & Administration
- Manage resources within budget, follow financial protocols, and maintain the home’s condition.
Training and Team Development
- Identify training needs for staff, promote skill development, and model best practices.
Communication
- Maintain clear communication with staff and management, especially in serious situations.

- Stay updated on childcare legislation and practices and participate in ongoing training.
