Chroma is pleased to be recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer on behalf of a growing engineering company. This is a key role for a motivated and skilled engineer with a background in electrical design who can provide technical solutions within a design office environment. The position requires initiative and the ability to handle detailed design projects, often independently and sometimes under time constraints. You will be part of a collaborative team for large-scale projects and may assist in mentoring junior team members.

This role involves producing high-quality electrical designs and drawings using AutoCAD or E-plan, following company and industry standards. The Electrical Design Engineer will support multi-panel installations, develop cost-effective design solutions, and ensure all drawings are updated for future reference.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design & Detailing: Create electrical layouts and control panels, ensuring compliance with quality standards and relevant regulations.
  • Component Specification: Collaborate with departments for component selection, cost optimization, and technical support.
  • Compliance: Adhere to BS7671, EN ISO 13849-1/2, PUWER, and UL508 standards for projects, including international markets.
  • Testing & Modifications: Document necessary changes, test control panels, and update drawings accordingly.
  • Mentorship: Assist and support the development of junior staff in technical learning and progression.

Requirements
  • Essential: HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, proficiency with electrical drawings, control panel design, and PLC programming
  • Desirable: Degree in Electrical Engineering, experience with industrial inverter drives, solar PV, BOM creation, cost tracking, and relevant certifications (e.g., C&G 2391-52)
