Transport Operations Supervisor

Commutable from Rochdale, Oldham, Ashton under Lyne, Manchester

Monday to Friday 14:00 - 22:00

Up to £34,600 + benefits

In this role, you’ll proactively provide compliant, efficient and profitable transport operations, ensuring that quality levels and performance standards are met, whilst promoting safe working practices. You’ll be a key point of contact for customers and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all customer requirements are satisfied daily.
  • Act as a key management interface with customers.
  • Co-ordinate own fleet and sub-contract to ensure cost effective solutions for customer requirements.
  • Day to day driver management.
  • Developing the team, providing skills and training to meet operational requirements and efficiency improvements.
  • Management of suppliers including sub-contractors, agencies, repair and maintenance service agents - ensure all operational costs are controlled.
  • Conduct regular driver/vehicle/trailer checks to ensure the highest standards of reliability and presentation.
  • Ensure full compliance with all company internal processes and procedures.
  • Compliance and legislative responsibilities linked to O License.
  • Weekly management information reporting.

Experience & skills required:

  • Previous experience gained within fast-paced logistics operations.
  • Strong organisational and planning abilities.
  • Demonstrates responsible, ethical and honest behaviour in all roles, tasks and responsibilities
  • General knowledge of current UK transport operations and legislation
  • Holder of Certificate of Professional Competence for Transport Managers - or willing to undertake training to achieve this qualification.
  • Ideally - O-Licence experience.
  • Excellent IT literacy, ideally with knowledge of fleet management and transport management software
  • Excellent self-motivation - able to work under own supervision.
  • Team player with the ability to instil confidence and drive in others.
  • Able to motivate others and develop a strong team culture
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility - the ability to adapt and cope with the unexpected.
