Hague Personnel has an exciting job opportunity for an Electro-Mechanical Engineer to join a prestigious engineering company with sites in Middleton and Rochdale.

The role would suit an experienced Electrical Engineer who is happy to carry out mechanical tasks.

The role is full time and includes regular overtime. The role will require national travelling, staying away from home (sometimes up to 7 consecutive nights), occasional night working and weekend working. The position also requires the successful candidate to be on call 1 in 5.

The candidate will be required travel to and from customer sites to complete regular pre planned maintenance visits, reactive breakdown call outs, relocation and refurbishment works and installation, commissioning and training on a wide variety of equipment.

Main duties will include:

  • Working safely and to the required standards.
  • Working alone or as a team member.
  • Completing servicing, breakdown/repairs and installation of equipment.
  • Mechanical - Stripping and rebuilding of equipment in the workshop and on customers sites, installing new equipment on customers sites, refurbishment of old equipment both on site and at the workshop.
  • Electrical - Fault finding on control circuits with 24 volt and 3 phase systems - PLC knowledge is a must, control panel assembly and wiring, new fixed wiring installations, modifications to existing wiring installations.
  • Hydraulic - Fault finding and repair to Hydraulic systems.
  • Completing job reports / check sheets and emailing to the office on completion of jobs.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis activities (RCA) to identify the cause of failures and actions to prevent future failures.
  • Proactively identifying potential faults and improvement opportunities on the plant equipment to prevent future failures or to identify more efficient methods of working.
  • Communicate with customers and provide telephone support as and when required.
  • Assist the company with continued growth via providing a high quality of work, commitment to the job, can do attitude, professional approach to all situations and good people skills.

A mobile Phone, Tablet, credit card, company van and fuel cards will be supplied.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate the following attributes:

  • The willingness/dedication to stay away from home (up to 7 days at a time) plus weekend working.
  • Computer literate - All Worksheets, timesheets and other administrative paperwork are completed using a mobile handheld device.
  • Level 3 Qualification in Electrical Engineering.
  • Qualified in 16th, 17th or 18th Edition Writing Regulations (BS7671)
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
  • Strong personal commitment to safety.
  • Problem solving and root cause identification skills.
  • Full, clean UK Driving License.
  • Self-Motivated and reliable.
  • Communicate well, both face to face and over the telephone in a confident friendly manner.
  • Ability to think on your feet and use own initiative.
  • Ability to work independently with integrity and professionalism.
  • Good team player with a willingness to commit to the company’s work ethic.
  • Possess a strong collection of general hand tools.

Contract Type: Permanent

Pay Rates:

  • Standard rate - £18 per hour
  • Overtime Monday to Friday - 1.5 x standard rate
  • Overtime Sunday - 2 x standard rate

Working hours:

42.5 hours per week (Monday - Friday 8.00am - 17:00pm including ½ hour for lunch).
