Mechanical Fitter - Permanent Position

Location: RochdaleSalary: £33,200 per annum + premiums for skills + OvertimeHours: 08:00-16:30 Monday to Thursday, 08:00-13:00 Friday

We are currently collaborating with a leading engineering firm based in Rochdale, recognised for its commitment to innovation and excellence. Due to business expansion, we are seeking skilled and dedicated Mechanical Fitters to join their team on a permanent basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble specialised machinery within established build times, ensuring adherence to technical specifications.
  • Perform fitting, assembly, and metal fabrication tasks, modifying parts as required for specific applications.
  • Service and repair a wide range of equipment, from heavy plant machinery to other mechanical systems.
  • Provide on-site support for clients and, on occasion, off-site services at customer premises.
  • Meet production deadlines, ensuring timely completion of tasks while maintaining quality standards.
  • Address technical issues proactively and provide mentorship to trainees and apprentices as required.
  • Assemble components accurately according to engineering drawings and specifications, completing all necessary documentation including Test Certificates and Packing Sheets.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in mechanical fitting, with the ability to interpret and work from technical drawings.
  • Proficient in fitting tasks, as well as basic metalworking functions such as drilling, tapping, and machining.
  • Strong focus on quality and attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Excellent attendance and timekeeping record.
  • Ability to adhere to Health & Safety standards and work safely in all environments.
  • Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Qualifications:

  • GCSE or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Time-served Mechanical Fitter (NVQ Level 3 or HNC level is advantageous).

Benefits Package:

  • Competitive Salary: £33,200 per annum, with additional pay for skill sets.
  • Overtime: Enhanced overtime rates - Monday to Friday at 1.33x, Saturday at 1.5x, Sunday at 2x. Over 10 hours of overtime during the week is paid at 1.5x.
