Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Accommodation Support Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in welcoming individuals into temporary accommodation and providing high levels of support and guidance to help them become tenancy-ready. Key responsibilities include:

  • Management of Temporary Accommodation: Ensure the effective management of temporary accommodation, including meeting re-let and turnaround times when properties are empty.
  • Support Delivery: Assist with the delivery of Temporary Accommodation services within Rochdale Borough Council and lead the Safer Homes Scheme, helping those experiencing domestic abuse to remain in their homes.
  • Homelessness Prevention: Contribute to reducing temporary accommodation admissions by preventing homelessness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Support: Provide advice and support to assess the needs of all households, including those with complex needs such as alcohol and drug issues and mental health challenges.
  • Personal Housing Plans: Develop personal housing plans that include advice on housing support, health services, employment information, and rehabilitation and addiction services. Refer clients to floating support and supported accommodation services.
  • Collaboration: Support colleagues in delivering personal housing plans for those experiencing homelessness, ensuring the most appropriate support is offered.
  • Multi-Agency Representation: Represent Strategic Housing at multi-agency meetings discussing domestic abuse, including safeguarding meetings (MARAC, DRIVE, Daily-high risk DA) and other forums to work towards positive outcomes for those experiencing domestic abuse.
  • Specialist Advice: Provide specialist advice to colleagues within Strategic Housing and across Council services to prevent homelessness for those experiencing or at risk of domestic abuse.
  • Policy and Partnership: Contribute to the Rochdale Safer Communities Partnership’s priorities, domestic abuse policy development, and implementation in line with legislation and government guidance.
