Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent in social care/children or working towards this
  • Experience working with children in a residential setting
  • Knowledge of learning disabilities and supporting children from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Team teach trained (MAPA/PMVA/CONFLICT RESOLUTION)

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe environment for children and deescalate any challenging behaviour
  • Maintain and foster good relationships with the children
  • Assist with moving and handling, and provide personal care if necessary
  • To participate in the assessment of each child’s/young person’s needs and regular reviewing individual care plans/programmes.
  • To respect and promote the needs of each child/young person arising from his/her racial, cultural and religious background and to attend religious services, cultural festivals where appropriate.
  • To ensure the welfare of young people is promoted, that they are protected from abuse and that an appropriate response is made to any allegation or suspicion of abuse or bullying.
  • Sleep shifts where necessary, some evenings and weekends required
  • To work in accordance with the Authority’s Policy relating to the promotion of Equality and Diversity.
