The Role:
Do you have a passion for inspiring and empowering young people to reach their full potential? We are looking for a Youth Engagement Careers Coach to work with young individuals aged 15-19 (up to 24 with SEND or healthcare plans) in Rochdale and Oldham. In this role, you'll be at the forefront of helping them navigate their career and education options, guiding them through challenges, and supporting them in building sustainable futures.
Duties:
- Establish strong, trusting relationships with young people to help them identify and overcome personal and professional barriers.
- Work closely with schools, colleges, training providers, and youth centres to extend the reach and impact of the programme.
- Provide one-on-one tailored guidance, setting clear, actionable steps toward education, training, or employment opportunities.
- Help young people set realistic goals, using SMART targets to measure progress and celebrate milestones.
- Maintain accurate records of interventions, outcomes, and follow-up actions to ensure success and continuous improvement.
- Offer consistent engagement and mentorship to keep placements or educational courses aligned with the aspirations of young people.
Required Skills:
- Proven experience in supporting individuals aged 15-19 (or up to 24 with SEND/healthcare needs) within education, training, or youth support roles.
- A natural ability to build rapport and motivate young people, with a passion for helping them thrive.
- Expertise in creating tailored action plans that address barriers and foster personal and professional development.
- Strong organisational skills to manage caseloads, track SMART goals, and deliver measurable outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills, engaging effectively with young people, partners, and colleagues.
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Due to the nature of this role, you will need to undertake an enhanced DBS check and there will be regular travel across the region so access to your own vehicle is essential.
