Our client specialises in the design, supply and installation of a wide range of Off-site Prefabricated solutions. They are currently seeking experienced Welder / fabricators to fabricate Architectural metalwork and structural steelwork to support our team of welder / fabricators, who can provide insight, develop efficient production methods, work accordingly and support the Fabrication the role as Welder / fabricator the successful candidate will be required to be on site each day, fabricating from our shop drawings, maintaining weld procedures and increasing production within the fabrication/welding facility, ensuring projects are progressing in line with priority sequence & programme.
Welder / Fabricator Responsibilities
- Liaise with Production Fabrication Manager/Co-Ordinator to establish the requirements of each Project.
- Read and fully understand the shop fabrication drawings for each project
- Fabricate and weld project requirements (typically carbon steel, aluminium & stainless steel) from shop drawings.
- Review fabrication drawings prior to entering the production line for correct measurements and specification
- Ensure company welding procedures are adhered to when required.
- Liaise regularly with line managers in relation to labour resources, training, machinery and any non-conformances.
- Ensuring the project progresses in a timely manner and in accordance with project programs and specifications.
- Manage scheduled workload accordingly in the fabrication facilities.
- Personal responsibility of finished products ensuring customer requirements and quality are met.
- Any other duties deemed necessary by management.
- Supporting junior colleague apprentices and assisting them where required
- Adhering to health and safety requirements at all times
Essential Welder / Fabricator Criteria:
- Established experienced welder / fabricator, experienced working with various materials and manufacturing equipment.
- Previous experience as a Welder / Fabricator Min 10 years
- Previous experience and familiar with architectural metalwork and structural welding  procedures.
- Confident understanding of shop fabrication drawings with ability to relay this information through the wider fabrication teams.
- Experience liaising with the design team to develop efficient methods of manufacture
- Experience liaising with the sales and estimating team to establish realistic job times.
- Organise a structured approach to your work.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage workload.
- Good attendance and timekeeping record.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate colleagues, whilst maintaining a high level of productivity.
- Experienced operating the following machines: Pipe Beveller, Hydroform folder, Guillotine, Mig welding set, TIG welding set, MMA welding set, Horizontal bandsaw, Circular chop saws, both steel blade and abrasive wheel, both portable and pedestal mounted, Belt driven pillar drill, All sizes of angle grinder, but generally 4.5",9", Oxy acetylene hot works equipment, Magnetic drills and broaches, Tube polisher, Other fabrication hand tools associated with welding and fabrication work.
Qualifications
Time served Fabricating Welding: or sheet metalworking with a min of City & Guilds qualification.
