Job Title: Project Engineer (Electrical Bias) - Water Treatment

Location: Rochester, Kent

The Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Engineer with a strong electrical bias to join our team and play a key role in the successful delivery of a major water treatment plant project in Rochester, working in partnership with Southern Water. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to contribute to a critical infrastructure project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Electrical Engineering:

* Provide technical expertise for all electrical aspects of the project, including design review, specification development, and construction supervision.
* Ensure that electrical systems comply with relevant regulations, standards, and Southern Water specifications.
* Coordinate with electrical subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely and efficient delivery of electrical works.

  • Project Management:

* Assist the project manager in planning, scheduling, and managing the electrical scope of the project.
* Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans for the electrical component.
* Monitor progress and identify potential risks or issues related to electrical works.

  • Construction Oversight:

* Provide on-site supervision and guidance during the installation and commissioning of electrical systems.
* Ensure that electrical work is performed according to specifications and safety standards.
* Conduct inspections and testing of electrical systems.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

* Prepare and maintain accurate technical documentation, including electrical drawings, specifications, test reports, and handover documents.
* Provide regular progress reports and updates to the project manager.

  • Collaboration:

* Work effectively with other project team members, including engineers, construction managers, subcontractors, and Southern Water representatives.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Essential:

* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
* Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Project Engineer on water treatment or related infrastructure projects.
* Strong understanding of electrical systems, including power distribution, control systems, instrumentation, and automation.
* Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and standards (e.g., IET Wiring Regulations, BS 7671).
* Experience with construction documentation, drawings, and specifications.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.

  • Desirable:

* Experience working with Southern Water or other water utilities.
* Knowledge of SCADA systems and control systems used in water treatment plants.
* Experience with project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile).
