Our client has developed into one of the UK's largest independent aluminium and stainless steel stockholders. At their 7 locations throughout the UK they have invested in a comprehensive stock range, modern warehouse and processing facilities and a professional sales team. They are committed to delivering a high standard of service and quality to all their customers.


A new opportunity has arisen to join our client as a Business Development Executive. Your responsibilities will include selling across the Essex/Herts territory. Their product range is commodity based and their sales team need to be fluid with pricing and offers to keep customers competitive. The market is fast moving and often aggressive. Your remit will be to gain and maintain repeat business whilst also adding new customers.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Offer bespoke account management to customers
  • Identify and add new business to the region
  • Keep abreast of market pricing for the commodities they sell
  • Price customers and manage stock requirements in tandem with inside sales teams
  • Keep customers informed of market or stock changes
  • Measure and achieve pre-set KPMs

Essential/Desirable Requirements

  • Previous field sales experience is essential although not necessarily in the metals industry as full product training will be provided.
  • Located in the Essex/Herts region
  • Interested in market dynamics and fluidity of pricing
  • Understanding of the wider manufacturing sector is desirable
  • You enjoy working with a variety of data sources to identify trends, issues and opportunities
  • Approachable and with the ability to connect & influence at all levels
  • As a self-starter you enjoy working independently and thrive in an environment where you can make a real difference whilst also working as part of a winning team
  • Able to build relationships quickly and effectively
  • Demonstrable track record in new business targets
