An opportunity have arisen for dynamic individual with an eye for detail to join our team in the role of Ripening Quality Controller. The purpose of this role is to oversee the ripening process, monitor fruit quality, and implement protocols to maintain product standards.


Responsibilities Include:

* Ability to read and understand stock sheets and packing plan

* Use of Ethylene generators and controlling store temperatures

* Knowledge and ability to operate Cirrus system, create stock sheets

* Monitor and assess the ripening process of fruits

* Conduct regular inspections to evaluate fruit quality, appearance, texture, and ripeness

* Need to operate Pallet truck and Scissor Lift to enable product samples

* Implement quality control procedures to ensure consistent product quality

* Communicate with suppliers and growers to maintain proper handling and storage conditions for incoming fruits

* Collaborate with production teams to schedule and prioritize ripening activities such as transfers and additional works if needed, liaise with Packhouse managers for predicted volumes and quantities that need to be packed

* Identify and address any issues related to fruit quality, including defects, bruising, or spoilage

*Visually check cleanliness of the room, the conditions of lamps and pipes and complete relevant daily checks

* Utilize and calibrate quality control tools and equipment, such as refractometers and FTA to measure ripeness and sweetness levels

* Maintain accurate records of ripening processes, quality assessments, and any corrective actions taken

* Train and educate new team members on proper ripening procedures and quality control standards


Our perfect Quality Controller would have:

Previous experience of working in a fresh produce environment with responsibility for monitoring product quality would be a strong advantage

Excellent attention to detail

Understanding of and adherence to health and safety protocols and food hygiene standards

The ability to interpret and follow written and spoken instructions

Respect for others and values diversity; happy to listen and work as part of a team

A can-do attitude with a flexible and dynamic approach

The ability to use own initiative and thrives under pressure

A basic understanding of stock control systems


The hours you would work:

Our Ripening QCs are contracted to work a 5 day week but due to the nature of our business, it can sometimes be 6.We do tend to work long hours but we reflect this in our competitive pay structure. As a result, this role would only be suited to candidates who are able to be flexible.


Rate of pay:

£12.00 for the first 40 hours

£15.00 after 40 hours with possible pay increase after successful completion of training
