Operations Technician – CCGT Power Station

MC Technical Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Production Technician / Operations Technician to join the operations department of a combined cycle gas turbine power station near Rochester in Kent.

The Production Technician will be responsible for starting, stopping and monitoring the plant via a DCS system to ensure the site meets its operational targets in a safe and efficient manner.

As a Production Technician you will be responsible for:

  • Starting, stopping, and monitoring gas and steam turbines, heat recovery steam generators, pumps, water treatment plant and heat exchangers via a DCS control system
  • Diagnose plant related problems and perform basic first line maintenance tasks reporting any defects to the Shift Team Leader
  • Conduct operational routines and routine plant testing activities
  • Manage and supervise contractors
  • Undertake specific projects and work activities to develop skills and knowledge of the plant
  • Conducting all activities with the highest regard for health and safety

To be considered for this role you should have:

  • Operational experience gained in a heavy process environment that involves the generation of high-pressure steam e.g. power generation (EFW, biomass, CCGT), chemical, refinery, CHP etc. Merchant and Royal Navy Engineers with significant watchkeeping experience will be considered (Petty Officer / 2nd Engineer level and above)
  • A relevant engineering qualification such as BTEC/ONC/NVQ Level 3 as a minimum
  • The ability to support other engineering disciplines (mech, elec or C&I) with work planning and plant diagnostics
  • An adaptive approach to working routines and willingness to work on a shift pattern that involves 12-hour shifts
