Job Title: Production Technician
Location: Rochester, Kent
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £42,000 - £45,000 + Shift allowance
Benefits: Enhanced pension scheme, private medical insurance (PMI), long-term incentive plan, and a holiday allowance starting at 25 days, plus bank holidays.
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Production Technician to join a leading UK power generation company. This role is based at a gas-fired power station and involves supporting the Production Team Leader in all operational activities. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the plant while contributing to energy management and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) plant safely and efficiently.
- Support the Production Team Leader in all operational activities.
- Diagnose and resolve plant-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety at Work Act and Environmental Protection Act.
- Implement company policies and procedures related to station operations.
- Carry out operational routines, plant testing, and maintenance tasks within competence.
- Manage and supervise contractors on-site.
- Conduct self-audits on health, safety, and environmental compliance and complete behavioural audits of contractors and staff.
- Communicate with National Grid to ensure compliance with REMIT and load profiles.
- Assist in driving operational improvements and efficiency initiatives.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum Apprenticeship/ONC (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline. At least 2 years' experience in the operation and/or maintenance of a CCGT plant.
- Strong technical knowledge with the ability to optimise plant performance.
- Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation.
- Proficiency in computer systems and control software.
- Ability to support electrical, mechanical, control, and instrumentation disciplines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
- Self-motivated with a flexible approach to work.
- Excellent teamworking, communication, and time management skills.
