Electronics Technician - Rochester

Join a rapidly growing company that specialises in through-hole and SMT PCB assemblies, box builds, and both in-house and subcontracted manufacturing. Our client is seeking a passionate Electronics Technician to join their innovative manufacturing team and support increasing sales volumes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting & Fault Finding: Diagnose and resolve issues with electronic assemblies and finished products using test equipment like oscilloscopes and spectrum analysers. Your problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and methodical approach will be essential, and a practical skills test will be part of the hiring process.
  • Schematic Understanding: Interpret schematics and assembly diagrams for modern electronics.
  • Feedback & Collaboration: Provide valuable insights to the manufacturing and engineering teams, ensuring continuous improvement in processes and product quality.
  • Rework & Repair: Perform modifications, rework, and repairs on electronic assemblies following IPC 7711/21 standards. High manual dexterity and an eye for detail are a must.
  • Test Station Creation: Work closely with engineering to design, document, and build test stations for ensuring product quality and reliability. Train staff to use test equipment effectively, adhering to IPC-J-STD-001A standards. Relevant IPC qualifications are desirable, but training can be provided for those with experience.
  • Assembly & Prototyping: Perform occasional low-volume hand assembly and programming, including operating pick-and-place machines and reflow ovens, in line with IPC-A-610 standards.
  • Documentation & Standards Compliance: Accurately document your work, maintaining the highest quality standards within an ISO9001 quality system environment. Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, electrical safety, and COSHH regulations.

Qualifications

  • Electronics Background: A strong passion for electronics with a relevant qualification (HND or equivalent) and at least two years of experience in a similar role.
  • IPC Certification: A current IPC qualification is a bonus, but if you have the right experience, we offer training.
