Electronics Technician

Job Description: Our client, based in Rochester, specialises in through-hole and SMT PCB assemblies, box build, and both in-house and subcontracted manufacturing. They are experiencing growth and seek an enthusiastic Electronics Technician to join their dynamic manufacturing team. This role involves fault finding, troubleshooting, rework, test station creation, and occasional low-volume assembly and prototyping.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in electronic assemblies and finished products using test equipment such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analysers, while interpreting schematics and assembly diagrams.

  • Perform rework, modifications, and repairs on electronic assemblies and products in accordance with standards like IPC 7711/21, ensuring high attention to detail and manual dexterity.

  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to design, build, and document test stations for electronic assemblies, ensuring correct functioning, quality, and reliability.

  • Train manufacturing staff on proper testing procedures and accurately document all work performed according to company procedures, maintaining high product quality standards.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including Health and Safety, electrical safety, and COSHH, and maintain experience within an ISO9001 quality system, with a strong focus on methodical problem-solving and teamwork.

Qualifications:

  • Strong interest in electronics and a relevant electronics qualification (e.g., HND or equivalent).
  • At least two years' experience in a similar role.
  • Current IPC qualification is desirable; training can be provided if needed.
  • Experience working within an ISO9001 quality system is desirable.
