Transport Coordinator

£36,000 Per Annum

Rochford, Essex

Monday to Friday - 40 Hours

Do you have previous experience in logistics or transport coordination/planning, and have a strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, MOT requirements and general service protocols, along with excellent route planning and strong relationship building skills?

If so, our import and distribution client based in Rochford are looking for a Transport Coordinator to join their team.

Due to the location of the role you will require your own transport.

At least 3 years UK based relevant work experience is required for this role.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a logistics or transport coordination role, ideally within a fast-paced environment
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, including MOT requirements, emission tests, and general service protocols
  • Familiarity with telematics and GPS tracking systems for vehicle monitoring and efficiency optimisation
  • Excellent route planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
  • Experience in producing pick notes, delivery manifests, and coordinating schedules for drivers and vehicles
  • Ability to work with third-party hauliers and agencies to ensure smooth transport operations
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills to liaise effectively with the Port, drivers, sales teams, and clients
  • Sound understanding of health and safety regulations in relation to transport operations
  • Proactive in identifying and resolving transport-related issues, including delays, accidents, or customer concerns
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to review and improve transport processes for operational efficiency
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and methodologies to enhance transport operations
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide effective coordination and communication between sales force and transport
  • Plan and optimise delivery routes to maximise efficiency, ensuring timely deliveries
  • Utilise telematics and GPS tracking systems to monitor vehicle usage, improving efficiency and reducing operational costs
  • Generate pick notes for the picking team, along with journey manifests and delivery notes for drivers
  • Collaborate with the Port to produce pick and delivery notes and arrange transport from the bulk distribution shed
  • Coordinate the use of agency drivers and third-party hauliers to ensure vehicle availability when required
  • Manage driver and vehicle schedules to meet the operational demands of the business
  • Foster strong relationships with the Port, drivers, sales teams, and clients, ensuring seamless transport service
  • Report any transport-related issues to the line manager, including delays, accidents, or customer complaints, and resolve them in a timely manner
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and health and safety regulations across all transport operations
  • Contribute to the company's business strategy by providing valuable insights from transport operations
  • Continuously review and improve transport processes and procedures to enhance operational efficiency
  • Investigate and implement new technologies and innovative practices to streamline transport operations
