Service Technician/Wireman

Location: Romford, Essex UK

Shifts: 4 on 4 off, followed by 6 on 4 off. 4 of those days will be out of the control centre in Romford across 24 hours (06:00 - 14:00, 14:00 - 22:00 & 22:00-06:00) The Control Centre is operational and requires support 24/7/365, there is expectancy to work a mixture of both Days and Nights.

Outside of IR35 (Subject to determination)

Pay Rate: 440.00 per day.

Role Overview:

Our Rail Infrastructure client is seeking a Service Technician to join their Romford/London based teams.

You will provide day to day Technical Support. Via tickets raised, you will action reactive maintenance,alongside PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance).

Wiremen perform complete assembly, testing, repair and maintenance of equipment and facilities used in the generation, distribution and transmission of electrical power.

Employees in this position are electrical trade's workers who perform highly skilled work independently and provide instruction and direction to lower level workers.

Wiremen install and maintain a variety of electrical systems using specialized tools and equipment; provide on-the-job training to apprentices and helpers, and diagnose and correct defects power, monitoring and interface systems.

The work requires expert knowledge of electrical theory and principles, familiarity with the tools and equipment used in the electrical trades, ability to interpret and apply blueprints, specifications and codes, and knowledge of safety rules and procedures. Work is carried out independently, with the Production Manager and Engineers providing instruction and clarification for unusual or difficult problems. Employees select from and apply a variety of written guidelines and reference materials.

Requirements:

Knowledge of RTU and Rail systems would be advantageous

Ability to work from standard GA drawings, wiring schedules and schematics

Experience in Rail standards of crimping, soldering and looming are advantageous

Competent in all aspects of wiring

Able to build and wire electrical systems such as small connectors and loom routes

Previous experience working to high standards of testing and inspection

Ability to liaise with internal colleagues and advise design teams and operations of any pre-emptive issues during the pre build phase.

Work quickly and methodically to ensure that build times are adhered to

Examples of Work:

Installs, maintains, tests and repairs control equipment, breakers, voltage regulators, transformers, and other electrical equipment.

Installs and repairs conduit and wiring in and around installations.

Diagnoses, repairs and replaces monitoring and control systems.

Instructs and monitors the work of Electrical Helpers and Apprentices.

Involvement in Continuous improvement activities, lean strategies and health and safety best practices to achieve and maintain zero harm.

Performs other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a minimum of three years' experience in the electrical trades as an apprentice or helper, (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).

Licensing and Other Requirements:

Current driver's license. May require some onsite works and installation.

Systems knowledge (preferable): CMS, SMS, Fastflex and CDN
