School Caretaker/Assistant Site Services Officer/Premises Assistant
  • Job Type: Part-time (Monday to Friday, 2pm to 6pm)
  • Location: Romford, Essex
  • Salary: £17.50 per hour

We are looking for a dedicated Assistant Site Services Officer/Premises Assistant/Caretaker to join our team, ensuring the security and maintenance of the school premises. The successful candidate will liaise daily with the Site Manager/Site Services Officer on caretaking issues and line manage the in-house cleaning team to maintain a clean, tidy, and welcoming learning environment.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Lock and unlock all school buildings and areas, ensuring the security of the premises.
  • Conduct regular security checks and operate alarm systems as required.
  • Manage the cleaning team to ensure the school remains a clean and welcoming space.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks to maintain the internal and external fabric of the school.
  • Monitor CCTV or surveillance equipment and respond to alarm call-outs.
  • Oversee the collection and disposal of waste.
  • Undertake cleaning duties, including emergency cleaning as needed.
  • Liaise with contractors and suppliers, ensuring the smooth operation of school facilities.
  • Support the Site Service Officer in promoting a positive health and safety culture.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in a caretaking or facilities role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Good understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a team.
  • Good communication skills to liaise with both internal and external contacts.
  • Willingness to undertake necessary training, such as Health & Safety and First Aid.
