- Safeguarding: Work closely with health professionals, educators, and the police to ensure the safety and welfare of children, helping to protect them from harm.
- Decision Making: Use your in-depth knowledge of children's legislation (such as the Children Act 1989) to make critical decisions regarding care placements, including fostering, adoption, and residential care.
- Collaboration: Build strong partnerships with foster carers, teachers, health professionals, and legal practitioners to ensure the comprehensive care of children.
- Reporting & Compliance: Oversee compliance with statutory requirements, ensuring timely and accurate submission of reports, care reviews, and other documentation. Represent the authority in court when necessary.
- Training & Development: Lead the professional development of your team, ensuring they possess the skills and knowledge necessary to meet the diverse and complex needs of children in care.
