Technician (RAIL)

Romford
Contract: 8 months (initially)
Rate: Up to 375/day, inside IR35

Required Competencies: PTS, COSS, PC, Lookout, Site Warden Ticket, Level C for substation access

Role Overview:
You will support the Team Leader in organizing and motivating the team to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required standards. You will carry out inspections, maintenance, faulting, and renewals as assigned and may act as Team Leader when required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and according to relevant procedures and method statements.
  • Perform tasks for which you are trained and competent.
  • Direct and manage team activities in a safe, efficient manner, ensuring compliance with all standards.
  • Oversee the quality of work and confirm compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain safety arrangements for staff, including contractors.
  • Ensure all team members have valid and appropriate competencies.
  • Ensure vehicles, tools, and equipment are fit for use and properly managed.
  • Accurately record completed and pending work.
  • Contribute to your own development and that of the team.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience with safe systems of work and work planning.
  • Ability to organize and control work delivery safely and efficiently.
  • Strong leadership and team motivation skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Knowledge of distribution plant inspection, faulting, maintenance, and renewals.
  • Familiarity with relevant standards, procedures, and regulations.
  • Hold required competencies for the role.
  • Ideally working towards an NVQ Level 1 or 2 (or equivalent) or have relevant experience.
  • Willing to drive as needed.
