Role Overview:The Sales Manager is responsible for driving profitability, managing stock, ensuring excellent customer satisfaction, and leading a high-performing sales team. This role requires strategic planning, strong leadership, and effective communication to achieve sales targets and uphold company standards.
Key Responsibilities:Sales & Profitability:
  • Work closely with the Buying Team to maximise profit opportunities.
  • Achieve budgeted sales, profit targets, and stock turnover rates.
  • Manage used car stock, ensuring optimal model mix and pricing.
  • Maximise accessory and add-on sales.
  • Monitor advertising spend and conversion rates.
  • Set and review sales targets, coaching the team for success.
Customer Satisfaction:
  • Improve enquiry conversion rates across all channels.
  • Ensure efficient complaint resolution and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee the sales process to create a seamless buying experience.
  • Facilitate a smooth transition from sales to after-sales services.
Cost & Stock Control:
  • Approve internal and external orders within budget.
  • Review financial performance and ensure cost control.
  • Maintain stock flow and avoid conflicts in stock allocation.
  • Manage outstanding debtors within agreed limits.
Team Leadership & Development:
  • Recruit, train, and support staff to achieve departmental goals.
  • Conduct regular team reviews and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies.
  • Communicate dealership and group objectives to the team.
Administration & Compliance:
  • Ensure all administrative tasks, record-keeping, and reporting are up to date.
  • Oversee health and safety compliance and inspections.
  • Maintain showroom and forecourt presentation standards.
  • Ensure FCA compliance, overseeing training and assessments.
Marketing & PR:
  • Develop and implement marketing plans for new and used car sales.
  • Manage promotional activities and dealership events.
  • Monitor local market trends and competitor activity.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Proven experience in automotive sales management.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Excellent financial and stock management abilities.
