About the Role

Join a close-knit team working directly with partners and directors to provide efficient and client-focused services. Mentor and manage junior staff, with opportunities for formal training. Receive guidance from a partner mentor for career development, with progression options to Director level and RI. Manage a diverse client portfolio, focusing on general practice with a significant audit component and exposure to broader business advisory work.

Responsibilities of the Role

  • Engaging with the team, clients, HMRC, and other professional advisors on a daily basis.
  • Demonstrating a personable and positive attitude while communicating confidently with clients to foster strong relationships.
  • Managing all aspects of audit and accounts assignments, including job planning, budgeting, and time management.
  • Effectively delegating tasks to the team and providing supervision, with subsequent monitoring of progress and project management.
  • Conducting a detailed review of files and debriefing the team, with a key focus on feedback.
  • Reviewing corporation tax computations and collaborating with Tax Specialists.
  • Finalizing files for Partner review, including the calculation of corporation tax.
  • Submitting completed files to HMRC and Companies House.
  • Promoting the interests of the firm with employees, clients, prospective clients, and other third parties.
  • Motivating and encouraging the team, offering timely and constructive feedback.

Requirements of the Role

  • Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience with a relevant Accounting Qualification such as ACA or ACCA or international equivalent.
  • Experience in managing both people and a portfolio, with a current portfolio comprising a minimum of 40% audit work.
  • Solid knowledge of corporate tax and high familiarity with UK auditing and accounting standards.
  • Commercially aware, capable of applying and communicating technical knowledge in a clear and commercial manner.
  • Experience in substantive and controls-based audits, group reporting, and handling cross-border groups.
  • Proficiency in delivering primary accounting frameworks such as UK GAAP, FRS 101, FRS 102, and IFRS.
  • Dedication to exceeding client expectations in terms of care and service.
  • Strong enthusiasm to continuous professional development (CPD) and ensuring ongoing improvement in technical competence.
  • Emphasis on audit quality and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback effectively.
