Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Kitchen to oversee the daily operations of our commercial kitchen and small platter artist team. The role will focus on the production of high-quality sharing platters, ensuring all orders are met with precision, and maintaining a smooth kitchen workflow. You will play a key part in upholding our standards for food safety, product quality, and timely delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day kitchen operations, including overseeing the production of platters, and picking and packaging for daily delivery.
- Lead and coordinate the prep team alongside the platter product team to ensure maximum efficiency in our workflow.
- Coordinating closely with the Logistics Manager to ensure customer satisfaction with on-time, correct (there may be allergens or dietaries amendments) and beautifully presented products.
- Supervise and motivate kitchen staff, setting the pace and maintaining a smooth workflow throughout the day.
- Ensure the final product meets GRAPE & Figs standards by inspecting and polishing platters before they reach customers.
- Collaborate with the Food Development team on new product testing and innovations.
- Monitor stock levels and manage rotation, alerting the Logistics Manager if supplies are running low.
- Plan and schedule kitchen staff shifts on a monthly basis.
- Conduct regular staff performance reviews (1-2-1s) and provide training, while ensuring daily staff hours are approved and signed off.
- Uphold the highest standards of food hygiene, health and safety, including daily HUBL app entries.
- Upkeep of daily processes to ensure efficient running go kitchen such as maintaining log of transport coolbags and ensuring commercial bins are well-managed.
Skills and Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Kitchen Manager, Head of Kitchen, or in a similar senior kitchen role.
- Creative flair with an eye for detail, able to craft beautiful platters to meet GRAPE & Figs standards.
- Strong understanding of kitchen operations, cleanliness, and food safety regulations.
- Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, staying quick and agile. Strong communication skills are also essential.
- Effective conflict management and team leadership skills.
- Flexibility to work early mornings (5/6am) and weekends as needed.
