Job Description
Class Teacher in an SEMH Provision - East London
Five Education is looking for a Teacher who can deliver to a small class of primary and secondary-age children who have been diagnosed mostly with mental health Needs (SEMH). Some of the children also have additional needs with their communication and social abilities.
The successful candidate will have classroom teaching experience and a developed understanding of SEMH-friendly teaching methods. You will be eager to develop your pedagogy by learning more about Mental Health. Teaching materials and resources are provided. However the school encourage individuality, therefore you are welcome to adapt learning materials to make your lessons outstanding.
The person chosen for this role may have previously been a primary/ secondary / FE teacher. They will benefit from training and support whilst working with Five Education. The school has a supportive staff cohort and good facilities. There is a strong ethos of fostering ambition and achievement within every person in the school.
Hours- Mon-Fri with 30min unpaid lunch
Essential criteria:
- Previous classroom teaching experience
- Have a right to work in the UK (A Valid Visa).
- At least two recent child-based reference and relevant DBS/ Police checks.
- Experience of teaching/ supporting individuals with SEN/Autism/Complex Needs/SEMH. (Desirable)
Responsibilities and duties:
- Support pupils in the classroom to make progress in their education.
- Evidence differentiation in all tasks, so that all students can access the curriculum
- Implement behaviour management tools
- Help students to develop self-regulation techniques, and learn when they need to employ them
- Teach the curriculum using existing resources as well as using your own initiative to engage pupils.
