    Key Responsibilities:
    • Project Leadership: Lead and manage a portfolio of housing development projects, from initial planning and design stages to construction and completion. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
    • Strategic Planning & Development: Work with senior management to develop and implement the council’s housing development strategy, focusing on the provision of affordable housing and urban regeneration.
    • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including housing associations, developers, contractors, architects, and local community groups. Ensure effective communication and collaboration across all parties.
    • Budget & Resource Management: Oversee project budgets, ensuring financial resources are managed efficiently and effectively. Ensure that housing projects are cost-effective and deliver value for money.
    • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all housing developments comply with local and national planning regulations, building standards, and sustainability requirements.
    • Funding & Finance: Identify and secure funding opportunities for housing projects, including grants, loans, and other financing methods. Prepare funding bids and ensure financial viability of development projects.
    • Team Leadership: Lead and motivate a team of project managers, planners, and support staff to ensure the successful delivery of housing development projects. Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to team members.
    • Quality Control & Risk Management: Monitor construction progress and quality to ensure all developments meet the council’s standards and requirements. Identify and mitigate risks associated with housing projects.
    • Community & Stakeholder Engagement: Ensure that community views are incorporated into housing development projects. Lead public consultations and engagement activities to ensure developments meet the needs of local residents and stakeholders.
    • Sustainability & Innovation: Promote sustainable design and development practices in housing projects, ensuring they align with environmental goals and contribute to energy-efficient living standards.
    Essential Qualifications & Skills:
    • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in housing development, construction management, or a related role, preferably within a local government or housing association environment.
    • Knowledge: Strong understanding of housing development processes, project management principles, and UK building regulations. Familiarity with funding sources and financial management of development projects.
    • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams and large-scale projects.
    • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex housing development information to senior management, external stakeholders, and the public.
    • Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage relationships with external partners and contractors.
    • Project Management: Proven experience in managing complex housing development projects, with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously and ensure timely delivery.
    • IT Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software (e.g., MS Project, Aconex) and housing management systems.
    • Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of the financial aspects of housing development, including cost management, risk analysis, and project viability.
    Desirable:
    • Relevant Qualifications: A degree or professional qualification in Housing, Construction Management, Urban Planning, or a related field (e.g., MRICS, CIOB).
    • Experience in London: Experience working on housing projects specific to London, including urban regeneration and affordable housing initiatives.
    • Multilingual: Ability to speak additional languages is a plus.
