Immediate start - Special Needs Teaching Assistant to support a mixed age range of children with moderate to severe learning difficulties within the Alternative Learning Provision of a Havering School.

This role would suit somebody with the confidence to work in a team and have experience/ knowledge of working with children that have ASD, Challenging Behaviour, Verbal and Non Verbal.

Monday to Friday - 8.30am - 3.30pm

For the Special Needs Teaching Assistant role :

  • To work with a mixed age range of SEN children with Autism, Challenging Behaviour, Verbal & Non Verbal.
  • Managing the children’s behaviour and employing de-escalation skills when required.
  • Able to identify & manage triggers and traits.
  • To work in a team alongside the class teacher with the children’s learning and development within the classroom.
  • Team Teach trained would ideally be essential or be prepared to be trained in this area.
  • Knowledge and experience of PECS, Makaton or Flash Cards
  • L2/L3 Teaching Assistant, Care or SEND qualification.
