Job Title: Specialist Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

Location: Havering/ Romford

Hours: Full-Time, 5 days per week (37.5 hours), part-time also considered

Service Area: Children’s Speech and Language Therapy

Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced, locum Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join the children’s community team. You will be responsible for working with children, families, and professionals across several of our service pathways, including Mainstream Schools, Speech, Complex Needs & Feeding, Out of Area, Pre-school, and Social Communication.

This is an exciting opportunity for a therapist who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with a wide range of speech, language, and communication needs. You will manage a diverse caseload, including clients with social communication difficulties, Autism, and other complex conditions, delivering high-quality speech and language therapy alongside a multidisciplinary team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Autonomously manage a caseload of children with a range of speech, language, and communication needs, including Autism, Speech Sound Disorders, Dysphagia, Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), and Early Language Development Needs.
  • Provide high-quality assessments, clinical diagnosis, treatment, and management of communication difficulties.
  • Work collaboratively with families, carers, and professionals (e.g., Paediatricians, teaching assistants, SENCOs) to develop and deliver personalized care plans for children with complex communication needs.
  • Deliver highly specialist interventions and support in areas such as Dysphagia and Complex Communication Needs, ensuring timely and effective care.
  • Evaluate outcomes of assessments and interventions, providing feedback and advice to parents and other professionals.
  • Provide specialist training and support to other professionals in communication development and related challenges.
  • Contribute to the leadership and development of the children’s speech and language therapy service in Havering.

Requirements:

  • HCPC registered
