About the opportunity:

We are presenting a rare opportunity for a Head Gardener to oversee and maintain a private estate in the Romsey area.

As the Head Gardener, you will be responsible for planning and executing all aspects of garden maintenance and ensuring the highest standards of horticultural practices are maintained. You will have a deep knowledge of plants, trees, flowers, and shrubs, and be skilled in landscaping and design. You will also be experienced with nurturing new plants in a greenhouse/poly tunnel enviroment.

We are looking for a highly skilled and knowledgeable individual who has previous experience in a similar role and who has a passion for creating and maintaining a high standard of garden landscapes. Strong communication and organisational skills are also essential for this role to enable you to manage multiple projects and priorities. A sound understanding of health and safety in the horticultural and landscaping environment is also a key requirement for this role.

Whilst this position is being advertised as a full-time role the client would consider a part time working arrangement with additional support to be put in place.

Requirements

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within a private estate.  
  • Horticultural qualification at RHS Level 3 or above.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labour as required.
  • A strong competency in the use of landscaping/garden machinery
  • Familiarity with the maintenance of plants, lawns and trees.
  • Experience of coordinating and supervising external contractors.
  • A good understanding of health and safety regulations related to estate garden and woodland maintenance.
  • Live within a commutable distance of this distinctive private estate.
