Commercial Mechanic

Our client a family-run business in the heart of Herefordshire, manage a diverse range of farming activities. They are seeking a skilled Mechanic to maintain and repair our extensive fleet of farm vehicles and machinery. This role offers a dynamic work environment where no two days are the same.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Inspect, diagnose faults, and repair a variety of farm machinery and equipment, including tractors, combines, harvesters, and more.
  • Attend to machinery breakdowns promptly and efficiently.
  • Schedule and carry out servicing and routine maintenance, including MOT preparation, for all machinery and vehicles.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work.
  • Manage work priorities effectively to ensure optimal productivity.
  • Procure spare parts and components from cost-effective sources.
  • Assist with farm duties during peak times of the year.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a mechanical role, with a broad knowledge of vehicle and machinery repair.
  • Experience with heavy plant or agricultural machinery is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong ability to diagnose faults and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive and can-do attitude, with the ability to manage one's own workload.
  • Effective team player with good communication skills.
  • Welding experience is advantageous.
  • Full driving licence is required.
  • Experience driving farm machinery and forklifts would be beneficial.
  • Relevant qualifications and certificates related to the role are desirable.
