We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Claims Handler to join our client's team in Rawtenstall. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and processing insurance claims from initiation to resolution. This role requires a keen attention to detail, strong communication, and analytical skills to ensure timely and fair settlements while delivering outstanding customer service. You will work closely with policyholders, third parties, and internal teams to resolve claims effectively and in line with company standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive and assess claims information from policyholders, clients, and third parties.
  • Investigate and verify the validity of claims, including reviewing documentation, conducting interviews, and carrying out inspections.
  • Process claims efficiently and in compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate the policy terms and conditions to determine indemnity.
  • Assess damage or loss and determine the appropriate compensation or settlement amount.
  • Liaise with adjusters, investigators, and legal teams to gather necessary information.
  • Communicate with brokers, policyholders, and claimants, providing updates and addressing inquiries.
  • Explain claim processes, resolve disputes or complaints, and ensure client satisfaction throughout the process.
  • Negotiate settlements with claimants, third parties, or their representatives.
  • Ensure that claims settlements align with company policy, industry standards, and legal regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all claim-related activities, including calls, emails, and correspondence.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for internal teams, management, or regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection laws and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Identify potential fraud or claims irregularities and escalate to the appropriate teams for further investigation.
  • Review and analyse claim trends to assist in the continuous improvement of claims processes.
  • Collaborate with underwriters, legal advisors, and other departments to ensure an efficient claims process.
Experience Required:
  • Prior experience in motor claims handling within the insurance or accident management industry is essential.
  • A proven track record in managing all aspects of a claim from initiation through to resolution.
  • Strong understanding of liability and insurance policies, terms, and conditions.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex situations.
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Skilled in negotiation and problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with insurance policies, industry regulations, and claims management systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and claims management software.
  • Empathy, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage a varied workload.
  • High levels of integrity, confidentiality, and adherence to ethical standards.
