Mechanical Design Engineer

Days (8am-4pm)

£40,000

We are looking for a motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join a market leader in their respective industry. The position will appeal to a strong Mechanical Design Engineer looking for their next challenging role within in a secure and stable company. With lots of opportunties for progression in the future.

The successful candidate will combine artistic and engineering skills to develop innovative functional products - being active across, Product Design - CAD, Prototyping & Mass production.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop your ideas from concept to production
  • Design for efficient manufacturability, aesthetics and functionality
  • Design failure mode and effect analysis (DFMEA)
  • Process failure mode and effect analysis (PFMEA)
  • Maintain accurate records of all design changes
  • Liaise with customers to identify requirements
  • Write technical reports to summarise findings, at all stages of the design process
  • Construct bills of materials (BOM)
  • Costing of products/designs/projects
  • Ensuring adherence to all customer specifications, company quality requirements, legislation and good engineering best practice.
  • Ensure design solutions are user and environmentally friendly
  • Coordinate product testing in accordance with relevant standards and protocols
  • Stay up to date with advancements in materials and processes

Key Skills

  • Minimum 2:1 in engineering degree with strong design contract
  • Proficiency with CAD software (Solidworks)
  • Product Design or Industrial Design experience gained within industry
  • Practical, with the ability to create models and prototypes
  • Be organised, self-motivated, pro-active and the ability to multi-task
  • An effective team worker
  • Valid UK Driving Licence (Essential)
