We are currently supporting an exciting opportunity within the renewable energy sector with a client that is actively seeking to recruit several BESS Field Service Engineers. In this role, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, warranty repairs, and commissioning activities on energy storage units at various Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance to ensure systems are operating at peak performance.
- Conduct annual capacity tests, troubleshooting, and reactive maintenance activities.
- Carry out software and firmware upgrades on system components.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment located across various BESS sites.
- Manage and maintain spare parts inventory.
- Ensure all work complies with local safety regulations and industry standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate safety measures on-site.
- Complete administrative tasks such as timesheets, daily vehicle checks, and job logs outlining issues and actions taken during service trips.
- Support the in-house engineering team with product development and project work.
- Provide feedback based on field experience to help improve products.
Essential Qualifications & Skills:
- Qualification in electrical or electro-mechanical disciplines.
- Proven experience in electrical or multi-skilled maintenance roles.
- Proficiency in basic IT (Word Processing, Outlook, Excel, and troubleshooting software).
- Qualification for safe working on-site (e.g., relevant safety certifications).
- Willingness to travel to different sites, with potential for overnight stays or international travel.
Preferred Experience (not essential):
- Previous experience working with BESS.
- Knowledge of HV/LV power electronics, including inverters, converters, and transformers.
- HVAC training and F-Gas qualification.
- Strong IT-related knowledge, including CMD, remote desktop connections, networking (e.g., subnets, VLANs, static IP/DHCP), and MODBUS/TCP protocols.
- C&G2391-5 Test & Inspect or equivalent qualifications.
- Familiarity with BS7671 regulations.
- HV Authorised Person certification.
