My clients are looking for a Structural Engineer to work under the direction of the Principal Quantity Surveyor and Principal Structural Engineer on the design and management of a wide variety of construction related projects together with provision of technical inspections and advice to key stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities:
- Undertake the design and support in the management of designated structural engineering projects, including structural design, calculations and the like to comply with all current legislation and guidance from scheme inception to the issue of the final certificate and management and control of project budgets.
- Provide advice and make recommendations on structural design matters to colleagues and clients, including reporting and attendance at officer meetings and committees as required by the role.
- Carry out Inspections, structural surveys, assessments and design & advice on structural repair and maintenance work.
- Aid the Principal Quantity Surveyor and Principal Structural Engineer in the delivery of work & assist in staff training and development in all aspects of the groups function and responsibilities.
- Contribute to the management of the group and to deputise for the Principal Quantity Surveyor and Principal Structural Engineer as necessary.
- Ensure that the standards required in terms of design, performance and advice are adhered to and to help implement the procurement strategy for construction-related services.
- Liaise with consultants, technical staff and all stakeholders as necessary to foster co-operation and provide a properly co-ordinated service to clients.
- Monitor standard procedures / operational practices and to aid the Principal Quantity Surveyor and Principal Structural Engineer in there review and development.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in Structural Engineering including structural analysis, design of building structures & diagnosis & repair of structural defects, legal & statutory regulations associated with the role.
- Proven experience working within a multifunctional design environment or a related discipline and knowledge and experience in legal and statutory regulations associated with the role.
- Knowledge and experience in the production of technical specifications and documentation.
- Highly capable of producing technical drawings in AutoCAD.
- Experience of undertaking structural surveys, and production of associated technical reports
- Applicants should be qualified to Degree level in a relevant subject or be able to evidence the equivalent level of knowledge gained through work experience.
- Proven knowledge & capability of AutoCAD, Teckla Structural Designer, TEDDS, & NBS software packages and have a sound knowledge and working experience of dealing with health and safety issues (including CDM and asbestos regulations).
