Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading O&M provider to recruit an Asset Manager for two biomass plants in South Yorkshire.

Responsibilities and duties


Reporting to the Manager of Site Operations, you will:

  • Take full accountability for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of both Holbrook and Widmerpool Biomass Power Plants.
  • Lead, engage, and develop site teams, ensuring alignment with business and client objectives.
  • Manage maintenance strategies, plant outages, and critical maintenance intervals to maximise reliability.
  • Oversee compliance with health, safety, environmental, and legislative requirements.
  • Develop and implement annual business plans, ensuring performance targets and KPIs are met.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulatory bodies, and local authorities.
  • Control and optimise budgets, contracts, and financial planning for both sites.
  • Identify and lead CAPEX projects to improve site safety and operational efficiency.
  • Support business growth by working with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Participate in the px Plant Managers' Forum, sharing best practices across the business.
  • Provide out-of-hours and emergency call-out support as required.


Professional qualifications


We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
  • Extensive experience in the energy industry or other major hazard industries.
  • Proven track record in managing energy-related assets and leading multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, compliance, and risk management.
  • Experience in strategic planning and operational leadership.
  • Ability to manage and motivate teams in a safety-critical environment.
  • Experience overseeing outages, maintenance planning, and plant performance improvements.
