Sales Director/General Manager – Transition to Managing Director

Reporting to: Board of DirectorsLocation: Sheffield Area (Some International Travel)Package: Base Circa £75k - £85k + Benefits

The incumbent will play a pivotal role in not only controlling and overseeing all facets of operations, people, and projects but also in charting the course for the overall success of the business. This leadership position requires a seasoned strategist capable of aligning the company with its vision, mission, and long-term goals.

This role will be instrumental in driving operational efficiencies, directly enhancing the quality of services and solutions, and fortifying the business's EBITDA. As the company enters an exciting phase of growth, the appointed leader will be tasked with expanding the existing operations and exploring opportunities for new business functions, be it through organic growth or strategic acquisitions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute business strategies aimed at driving growth, profitability, and market expansion.
  • Establish and pursue both long-term and short-term objectives aligned with the company’s overall goals.
  • Provide visionary leadership, setting a clear strategic direction for the company.
  • Create and refine reporting tools for effective performance tracking and analysis.
  • Oversee budgeting processes to ensure robust financial management.
  • Leverage market research and analysis to identify emerging trends and customer demands.
  • Lead and motivate executives and managers, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with industry experts and elevate the company’s public profile through networking and external engagements.
  • Manage all aspects of the business both in the UK and internationally, ensuring strong stakeholder relationships are maintained.
  • Maintaining and monitoring budgets to make sure that the business operates efficiently from a financial perspective.
  • Guiding and maintaining the performance of the company.
  • Supervising executives and managers and providing leadership and motivation as required.
  • Establishing relationships with industry and marketing experts, thought leadership through publication and building the company public profile through networking, conferences, and external engagements.
  • Preparing long-term and short-term goals and company objectives.
  • Take a hands-on approach to sales and marketing efforts, employing innovative strategies to increase market share and revenue.
  • Utilise market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics.
  • Lead international expansion efforts, identifying new market opportunities and establishing strategic partnerships to drive growth.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required to support business objectives, attend industry events, and meet with clients and partners.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A track record in a senior leadership role, preferably within the manufacturing industry.
  • A successful and proven track record of profitably growing a manufacturing/engineering business, while having full P&L responsibility.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, supply chain and quality control systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive sales growth and market expansion through strategic planning.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, business development, and financial management.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams in the execution of strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals and financial objectives.
  • Proven capability in managing complex business environments, with a focus on fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and performance improvement.
  • Proven ability to make strategic recommendations based on observation of market trends.
  • Financial Acumen and Project Management.
  • Highly skilled at producing reports and analysing data.
