Key Responsibilities:
• Design and Development:
Design electrical systems and components for water treatment plants, pumping
stations, and associated infrastructure. Develop detailed electrical design packages including electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, cable schedules, and control systems.
• Project Management:
Work closely with project managers, process engineers, and mechanical engineers to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
• System Integration:
Ensure the integration of electrical and control systems into water and wastewater treatment plants, ensuring compatibility with mechanical and civil components.
• Technical Support:
Provide technical support during the installation and commissioning phases, working with site teams to resolve electrical issues and optimize system performance.
• Compliance and Standards:
Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards (e.g., BS, IEC) and regulatory requirements, particularly with regard to health, safety, and environmental considerations.
• Client Liaison:
Attend client meetings, conduct site visits as required, and ensure that customer needs are met throughout the project lifecycle.
• Continuous Improvement:
Keep up to date with the latest developments in electrical engineering and water treatment technologies to ensure designs reflect current best practices.
Key Skills & Experience:
• Educational Background:
Degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline. Chartered Engineer status (or working towards) is highly desirable.
• Industry Experience:
Proven experience in electrical design within the water or wastewater industry, or closely related sectors (e.g., utilities, process industries).
• Technical Proficiency:
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, motor control, PLC/SCADA systems, and instrumentation. Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar tools.
• Regulatory Knowledge:
Familiarity with UK water industry regulations and standards (e.g., WIMES, BS7671) as well as general electrical safety practices.
• Project Involvement:
Experience working on multidisciplinary projects, from concept design through to installation and commissioning.
• Communication Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical information to a range of stakeholders, including non-engineers.
• Problem Solving:
Ability to think critically and develop practical, effective solutions to engineering
challenges, especially in complex and regulated environments.
