Turner Lovell has been appointed by a global Energy Engineering Services business to source a technical specialist to lead the electrical and grid capability that supports a variety of projects within the UK and wider EMEA region. This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to shape the development of this team and deliver against clients' needs in generation, storage, transmission, and distribution of safe, reliable electric power.
This role will have responsibilities across several key areas:
- Providing consultation and guidance to project teams, and leading the EMEA Electrical Engineering team, including overseas design offices.
- Interpreting, applying, and providing direction for complex engineering deliverables; typically supporting multiple projects on complex technical challenges.
- Researches and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
- Ensures policies, procedures, and processes are effectively developed, implemented, and communicated.
- Supports project team in the identification of key client interests and drivers on projects.
- Oversees collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work.
- Responsible for the development and/or approval of complex engineering calculations.
- Manages assigned budget, schedule and quality requirements.
To be considered for this role you should have:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Proven track record leading a team of engineers.
- Sound understanding of UK Grid Code and relevant regulations, with significant experience on UK electrical engineering projects.
- Experience with high voltage (HV) electrical engineering and balance of plant (LV/MV) electrical engineering.
It would be beneficial to have:
- Chartered Engineer status.
- Experience with Solar, Wind and BESS Projects; experience in electrical generation, transmission / distribution systems and Grid Code regulations and compliance processes.
- Experience interfacing with DNOs and confident engaging with clients.
- HV Substation Primary design experience, having worked on AIS or GIS at 220 kV and above.
- Experience in preparation of SCADA and Telecom architecture.
- Knowledge on clearances for the substations designs, CT and PT sizing calculation, Lightning arrestor, Grounding calculations, DG Sizing.
- Conversant with sizing calculation for transformers along with Electrical system modelling / studies.
