Job Type: Contract

Rate: 50-60 p/hour (IR35 TBC)

Introduction: Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Engineer to join their dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will have experience in utilising FEA tools to simulate and optimise the structural, thermal, and fluid behaviour of components and systems. You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and safety of our products across various platforms.
Key Responsibilities:

  • FEA Simulation: Perform finite element simulations on mechanical components and systems to evaluate performance under various loading conditions, including stress, strain, vibration, thermal, and fatigue analysis.
  • Model Creation & Meshing: Develop accurate FEA models based on CAD designs, applying appropriate boundary conditions and material properties. Generate high-quality meshes for complex geometries.
  • Analysis & Optimisation: Interpret simulation results, identify potential issues, and suggest design modifications. Collaborate with design teams to optimise product performance, manufacturability, and cost.
  • Multibody Dynamics (MBD) Modelling: Develop and analyse multibody dynamic models (MBD) to simulate the motion and interaction of rigid and flexible bodies within mechanical systems. Use MBD tools to optimise system performance and understand dynamic behaviour.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Generate detailed reports with analysis results, visualisations, and recommendations for design improvements. Communicate findings clearly to stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical design, electrical and hydraulics to ensure that simulations align with real-world conditions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest FEA techniques, tools, and industry best practices. Recommend and implement improvements to FEA processes and workflows.

Key Requirements:

  • Educational Qualifications:
  • A Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
  • Applicants without a degree will also be considered if they have sufficient relevant experience in Finite Element Analysis or related fields.
  • Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in Finite Element Analysis, with a focus on structural analysis, thermal or fluid analysis is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong understanding of FEA principles and methods.
  • Solid knowledge of material science, mechanics of materials, and structural dynamics.
  • Experience in meshing techniques, model validation, and interpretation of FEA results.
  • Software Proficiency:
  • Proficient in FEA software such as ANSYS, Abaqus or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with post-processing software for results visualisation.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. CATIA, NX) is a plus.
  • Communication Skills:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively report and explain results to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities:
  • Ability to identify engineering challenges and apply FEA methods to develop innovative solutions. Desirable Skills:
    • Experience with multi-physics simulations (thermal, fluid dynamics, or electromagnetic) is a plus.
    • Knowledge of advanced optimisation techniques such as generative design or topology optimisation.
    Personal Attributes:
    • Detail-oriented with a strong analytical mindset.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
    Benefits:
    • Competitive rate
    • Flexible working hours and remote work options.
    • Collaborative and innovative work environment.
If you are passionate about engineering simulations and eager to contribute to cutting-edge projects, join us in delivering high-quality solutions that drive innovation and performance.
