Shift Hours: Monday - Thursday 6am - 2pm / 2pm - 10pm, Friday 5am - 1pm / 1pm - 9pm (Candidates must be open to night shifts)

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Welder / Finishing Operative to join our team. In this role, you will perform TIG welding to ASME IX standards, working with both ferrous and non-ferrous materials to repair and upgrade castings. You will also be responsible for stock control, equipment maintenance, and ensuring all welding operations are performed to the highest quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform TIG welding to ASME IX standards for the repair and upgrade of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
  • Manage consumable stock, including weld wire and electrodes.
  • Conduct daily maintenance checks on welding equipment and chambers.
  • Inspect parts for cleanliness and ensure chamber environments are ready for welding, especially in vacuum chamber welding scenarios.
  • Assess and prepare excavation sites for welding, which may include manual dressing.
  • Clean non-ferrous parts using the aqueous degreasing facility.
  • Maintain weld wire usage logs and ensure accurate records.
  • Weld components in accordance with the relevant Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) documentation.
  • Conduct weld qualification tests as required.
  • Perform weld mapping and visual inspections of welds (post-training for inspections by other welders).
  • Operate overhead cranes and forklift trucks safely.
  • Assist with casting upgrade and finishing activities when needed.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience in TIG welding to ASME IX standards or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of working with both ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
  • Experience in maintaining welding equipment and performing quality checks.
  • Ability to interpret WPS documentation and conduct weld qualification tests.
  • Experience in manual dressing and part preparation for welding is an advantage.
  • Forklift truck and overhead crane operation experience is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of work.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including night shifts.

Shift Pattern:

  • Monday - Thursday: 6am - 2pm / 2pm - 10pm
  • Friday: 5am - 1pm / 1pm - 9pm
    (Candidates must be open to night shifts)
