Parkinson Lee Executive Search are currently retained partners to a leading global Engineering Group in the appointment of a General Manager – UK, based in South Yorkshire

A leading manufacturing company specialising in advanced machining and fabrication. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to oversee our site operations. This role entails full P&L responsibility, operational performance management, and strategic leadership, effectively acting as the Managing Director for the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the site with full accountability for operational performance.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to drive growth and efficiency in alignment with the company’s overall objectives.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure high standards of operational efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and enhance site performance.
  • Optimize production processes and workflows to maximize productivity and reduce costs.
  • Oversee the financial performance of the site with full P&L responsibility.
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement.
  • Oversee all aspects of machining, fabrication, metal foaming, casting, and forging operations.
  • Ensure the integration of advanced manufacturing technologies and techniques.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to support product development and innovation.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of 230 employees.
  • Ensure effective talent management, including recruitment, training, and performance appraisal.
  • Promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Represent the site in group-level meetings and initiatives, reporting directly to the Group Executive.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience in a senior management role within the aerospace or related manufacturing industry.
  • Strong background in machining and fabrications, with specific experience in metal foaming, casting, and forging processes.
  • Demonstrated success in managing P&L responsibilities for a site or division.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Management, or a related field is preferred.
